ACHIEVEMENT OF INDIA IN SPACE SCIENCE - 1
Our space agencies(ISRO) are modern day father of space missions , recent launches have left all other nations surprised. ISRO the Indian space research organisation works with a vision of harnessing space technology for national development while pursuing space science research and planetary explorations. the organisation has been launching satellites since 1975, the first one was named after the great Indian mathematician "Aryabhata" on April 19,1975,since then we have achieved a lot more in this field. ISRO is overall the fourth and first in Asia to reach the orbit of Mars.
Memorable missions:
- Lunar orbiter, Chandrayaan -1 was sent on October 22nd,2008. The mission included a lunar orbiter and an impactor. This satellite was launched using a PSLV -XL rocket from satish dhawan space centre, at Sriharikota 80kms. north from Chennai.
- Mars orbiter mission (MOM) was launched on November 5,2013 which entered mars orbit on September,2014 making the first Indian nation to succeed on its maiden attempt to Mars.
3. Making India the first nation from Asia to reach mars and fourth overall.
4. On18 june,2016 ISRO launched 26 stellities in a single vehicle.
5. A world record awaited for India on 15th feb,2017. India launched a total of 104 satellites using a single rocket creating a world record.
6. ISRO launched its heaviest rocket , Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle - Mark III
(GSLV-Mk III) on 5th june 2017 and placed a communication satellite GSAT-19 in orbit.
With this launch india became capable of launching 4- ton heavy satellites into
GTO(Geostationary transfer orbit).
